John Phillips Commentary Series - Exploring the Gospel of Luke

Title: John Phillips Commentary Series - Exploring the Gospel of Luke
Publisher: Kregel
Author: John Phillips

Description

We know little of Luke, with information found in the "we" passages of Acts, in three places where Paul mentions him by name, and where he identifies himself as the author of Luke and Acts. Luke interviewed and conversed with the people who had known Jesus. He likely studied Mark's gospel, with nearly half of Mark's verses appearing in his own gospel. He meticulously put the facts together as he gathered his information. Paul was Luke's mentor, and early Christian writers linked this gospel closely not only with Luke, but with Paul. Walk through the Gospel of Luke with John Phillips as your guide!

The John Phillips Commentary Series is designed to provide pastors, Sunday school teachers, and students of the Scripture with doctrinally sound interpretation that emphasizes the practical application of Bible truth. Working from the familiar King James Version, Dr. Phillips not only provides helpful commentary on the text, but also includes detailed outlines and numerous illustrations and quotations. Anyone wanting to explore the meaning of God's Word in greater depth - for personal spiritual growth or as a resource for preaching and teaching - will welcome the guidance and insights of this respected series.
