Carroll R., M. Daniel, and Jacqueline E. Lapsley, eds. Character Ethics and the Old Testament: Moral Dimensions of Scripture Louisville: Westminster John Knox, 2007. Pp. xx + 260. Paper. $29.95. ISBN 0664229360. Eckart Otto Ludwig-Maximilians Universität Munich, Germany Die hier versammelten Aufsätze gehen auf Sitzungen der Society of Biblical Literature und der American Academy of Religion zu „character ethics” zurück, nachdem bereits von Robert L. Brawley herausgegeben ein entsprechender Band „Character Ethics and the New Testament“ erschienen ist. Walter Brueggemann, der zu dem hier anzuzeigenden Band ein Vorwort beigesteuert hat, hat „character ethics” folgendermaßen definiert: „‚Character ethics’ refers to a way of thinking about and interpreting the moral life in terms of a particular vision of and a passion for life that is rooted in the nurture, formation, and socialization of a particular self-conscious community“. [Full Review]
