Probably my favourite commentary on 2 Cor (the main challenger being Garland's NAC). The NTL is more technical, so Matera provides greater detail. This one isn't as well known, especially among evangelicals (Matera is Roman Catholic), but deserves more attention that it gets.

The New Testament Library series is not one whose volumes tend to be highly praised by the commentators on the commentaries, but Matera’s is a notable exception and is apparently well worth consulting. However, you will definitely want to have another commentary or two available to you if you are embarking on a major study. [Full Review]

In depth but very readible
Generally speaking, I am not impressed by many of the volumes in the Old Testament Library and New Testament Library series. Many of the contributors are in knee-jerk sympathy with higher critical views of Scripture. There are, however, a handful of volumes that should be consulted. Frank Matera's commentary on 2 Corinthians is one such volume. It is readable and insightful. [Full Review]
[Full Review]
