Beale does an excellent job in showing how important it is to understand the book of Daniel before attempting to understand the book of Revelation. Revelation is an intensely symbolic apocalypse in which John borrows a vast amount from the Old Testament, especially Daniel, in order to portray the days that were to come shortly.
