This commentary seeks to be an aid to Bible teachers teaching in a church. It states that Bible teaching should accomplish the following: "new interest in Scriptures, expanded Bible knowledge, discovery of specific scriptural principles, relevant applications, and exciting living." The verse-by-verse section of the commentary uses a method that "answers the church's questions rather than raising issues scholars usually admit they cannot adequately solve." The commentary has twenty-four chapters, one for each chapter of Luke. These chapters are divided into eight sections. The first page contains a quote from various people. On the same page, a brief "in a nutshell" description is given of the chapter. The first section gives a story that is then related to the Lukan chapter. These stories are from modem times and often of a personal nature. Some examples include the experience the author had when one of his children was born, stories from his childhood and stories about Christian missionaries. These stories are usually a few paragraphs long and then the author ties in the story to the point of the chapter as he sees it. The second section is the bulk of each chapter; it contains the actual commentary verse-by-verse. The entire chapter is divided up into separate sections, which contain commentary. The commentary here is of a summarizing nature, as the author takes the account and explains it in plain English. Because of the nature of the commentary, little depth is given at this section and readers wishing to have more in-depth information would read section six. [Full Review]
