With a book like Lamentations, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend the contemporary significance. Dearman does an outstanding job showing the way in which this book remains very relevant 2500 years after the first destruction of Jerusalem. This commentary will be particularly helpful for pastors. Commentary on Jeremiah and Lamentations with a strong emphasis on contemporary application. A wide variety of social, political and ethical applications are highlighted, and Dearman believes prophecies of the land and temple have their ultimate fulfilment in Jesus. Due to the limited space available for "original meaning", not every verse is commented on specifically. It would probably complement a more academic commentary well. [Full Review]
