I've read the book of Romans twice before without a commentary. While I got something out of it, the writing style made it hard to understand for me. I was a Roman Catholic for most of my life, which basically teaches salvation through good works. I'm learning all about God's truly amazing grace through the atoning death of Jesus. I don't have to do good works to earn salvation. The bible teaches that we do good works as a natural outcome of the gratitude for all that Jesus has done for us. That is why His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

This (as most People's Commentary books) is a fantastic read. Romans is a profound Epistle of Paul and this book expounds on his teachings in a very readable yet intellectual manner. A must have for your reference library!
